He served in the US Navy, discharged in 1962. He moved to Maryland in 1963 working for the Washington Star newspaper. The family relocated to Las Vegas in 1982, and he retired from the Las Vegas Review Journal in 2001. He was a longtime volunteer and supporter of the Down Syndrome Organization of Southern Nevada and Special Olympics of Southern Nevada.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Elizabeth Jean Fiscus and 4 siblings. He is survived by his three children, William Fiscus, Jr., Veronica Fiscus and Matthew Fiscus all of Las Vegas, three grandchildren, Troy Fiscus (Ava) of New York, Zackary Fiscus (Krea) of Maryland and Michael Fiscus of Las Vegas, three great grandchildren, Liam, Elijah and Lyra and 3 siblings. Please note in comment section Bill/Matt Fiscus. A mass will be held at St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church at 1111 North Michael Way, Las Vegas on Wednesday, 7/29/26 at 10am. Burial will be on 8/6/26 at Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 1900 Buchanan Blvd, Boulder City. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, 8/8/26 from 2pm to 4pm at the Down Syndrome Organization at 6960 O’Bannon Drive #130, Las Vegas. Light refreshments will be served.
