William A. (Bill) James, former Roman, passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at his home in North Las Vegas NV. His loving family was by his side.
Bill was born in Utica NY on July 27, 1946 the son of Stanley E and Doris Bostwick James. He was educated in Oriskany schools and graduated from Oriskany Central School’s Class of 1964. He enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. In 2000, Bill graduated from Empire State College with a Bachelor of Professional Studies degree.
Bill worked with electronics and computers his entire career starting with the Cogar Corporation and International Computers Limited (ICL) in Utica NY. He then worked for various technology companies supporting the research efforts of the Air Force Research Laboratory (Rome Lab) until his retirement in 2012.
Bill is survived by the love of his life, Sharon Nasci; brother-in-law Paul Nasci; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Darlene and Danny Clements; several nephews and nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces; life-long friends Paul and Mae Smith; Hank and Gloria Kleaka; and Roy and Donna Ratley. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Nancy Tandy; sister and brother-in-law Donna and Cliff Austin; his twin sister Jackie Sobik; and mother-in-law Rosemarie Nasci.
Bill and Sharon shared 37 years filled with love, laughter, and lots and lots of hugs and kisses. Those who knew Bill knew he had three loves; Sharon, blackjack, and buffets. In 2012, they moved to Las Vegas. Bill thoroughly enjoyed sharing with family and friends all of his favorite places, foods, and buffets in his favorite city in the world.
We want to thank Bill’s wonderful caregivers Alexis, Sharon, Sheila, and Tiffany, who treated him like family. The doctors, nurses and staff of the Southern Nevada VA Medical Center who cared for him during his illness, and Brighton Hospice who made it possible to bring Bill home.
As per Bill’s wishes he was cremated. Arrangements are by Palm Northwest Mortuary, 6701 N. Jones Blvd, Las Vegas NV 89131. Memories and messages of sympathy maybe expressed at palmnorthwest.com. A memorial and celebration of life will be held at a future date.
