Willie Ray Johnson

He met and married his wife, Geraldine Jones, in 1961, and in April 1963, they moved to Las Vegas.

Willie was active in his service to God through the church from an early age. His dedication to the ministry eventually led him to the United Methodist Church and his membership in Zion United Methodist Church. He was a member of the United Methodist Men, the United Methodist Men’s Choir, and served on the Trustee Board. He was often found in the kitchen cooking for fundraisers and special events. He also contributed in other ways, such as assisting with the recovery after the sanctuary fire in 2017 and helping with general maintenance when needed. He was also instrumental in starting the community garden.

He was employed for over 30 years at the Flamingo Hilton Hotel and Casino and ended his career there as a Sous Chef. He was celebrated at his 25-year mark and was also an Employee of the Year. He also was celebrated by the City of North Las Vegas, along with his brother James, for being a North Las Vegas resident of 50 years. He was a Mason and a faithful member of the St. Marks Grand Lodge #1.

His love for the ministry was outweighed only by his love for his family. He is preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine; his parents, Hunter and Geneva; his sister, Linda Ann Wallace; his brothers, Hunter Ree Jr., Emerson, Billy George, Harry, Gene, and Jimmy; and his grandson, Kristopher Marc.

He leaves to cherish his daughter, Pamelia, and son-in-law, John; his grandson, Michael Angelo; five great-grandchildren, Kahila, Moorea, Ayla, Deston, and Arion; two great-great-grandchildren, Sienna and Shiya; brothers, James Edward, Tommy (June), and Collest (Mary); sisters, Hannah Holmes and Patsy (Michael) Carter; nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be held at Palm Mortuary - Downtown, 1325 North Main St, Las Vegas, NV 89101, US, on June 18, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

A Funeral Service will be held at Palm Mortuary - Downtown, 1325 North Main St, Las Vegas, NV 89101, US, on June 19, 2026, from 9:30 am to 11:00 am.

A Committal Service will be held at Palm Mortuary - Downtown, 1325 North Main St, Las Vegas, NV 89101, US, on June 19, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
