Woody Haughton’s life story is truly remarkable, full of love, service, laughter, and dedication. From his humble beginnings in Panama to his time spent in the U.S. Air Force and beyond, he lived with passion, always following his childhood aspirations to become a great photographer, tinker with cars, and bring joy to those around him.
His journey through the Air Force, from his role as a photo lab specialist to becoming a camera-recording technician, speaks to his growth and commitment, not only to his craft but also to his country. His military experiences in places like Thailand, Turkey, Greece, and Las Vegas were integral parts of his life story, and his service went beyond his professional duties, as he found a spiritual home at Highland Square Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Family was clearly central to Woody’s life. He raised his children with love and care and supported countless others through charity, including through organizations like ADRA, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, and the Salvation Army. His devotion to others was as strong as his passion for life.
Woody’s health may have declined over time, but his spirit never wavered. He continued to dream of visiting the places that had meant so much to him and remained a social, humorous, and positive presence to those lucky enough to know him. His laughter, big heart, and joyful spirit were undeniably contagious, and his legacy will live on through his family, his church community, and all the lives he touched.
As we remember Woody, we honor not only his accomplishments but also his unwavering kindness, his love for adventure, and his enduring faith. His memory will surely continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
