Alfreda and Belinda, sadly I have just learned of your Moms passing. Like so many, many others experience she entered my life at a time of great pain, confusion and disappointment. Vera's gentle hands, warm words and loving guidance helped me to heal, to look forward and to gain my life back. I'm sure she is still helping others in her new " life". Thank you for sharing her with all of us.

I met Vera at a time in my life when I was in a great deal of pain. She lovingly guided me to happiness, joy, and freedom. We became friends and she was a rock of support for me through all my difficulties. She helped me to grow up. After I moved away from D.C, we stayed in touch by phone. I am so happy I got to know her and she was a part of my life. My brother met her and commented how much she reminded him of our grandmother, "Mama Idell". Perhaps that was part of my attraction to her as well.

I love you Vera and will miss you but i have many good memories to sustain me until we meet again.

To the family, I hope that your memories sustain you in your loss.

My deepest sympathy to the family. Ms. Mitchell was one of my favorite teachers and I loved that whenever I saw her she always remembered me. She taught us how to be smart ladies. A teacher who cared. Not many of them around anymore. She will be missed.

For over 37 years Vera was an ever present light for me. Her voice guided my way through dark times; her inner light shined as truth; here reverence helped me to be humble; and her sense of humor told me everything was going to be all right. I will miss Vera's presence in this world, but she will never leave my heart as she was one of those very special Angels sent to help me see reality and to show me how to obtain peace. With experience, strength and hope, love you so much Vera, Linda Adams

A strong, independent woman who passed that on. Thanks....
