Carl Glen Hampton, a devoted husband, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully in Georgia, United States, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and adventure. Born in Winslow, Arkansas, Glen's early life was marked by a move to Washington State, where he graduated from Sumner High School in 1959. Following his graduation, Glen proudly served in the United States Air Force as a computer specialist, a role that set the stage for his lifelong career in computer technology.
After his military service, Glen's career took him to Redwood City, California, and later to San Francisco and Phoenix, Arizona, before he ultimately settled in Georgia. There, he worked as a computer programmer/analyst and for the State of Georgia.
Glen was preceded in death by his beloved wife and soulmate, Michele Mullen Hampton, and his parents, Dora Mae and Marion Hampton. He is fondly remembered by his surviving siblings: sisters Lois Ball and Velda Carter of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and brothers Otis Hampton of Rock Island, Washington, Dan Hampton of Mentone, California, and Ted Hampton of Tacoma, Washington. He was also preceded in death by his sisters Charlene Sokolowski of Tacoma, Washington, and Ivy Harris of Ocean Park, Washington.
An avid outdoorsman, Glen found joy in hiking mountains and rappelling the challenging cliffs of California, Arizona, and Nevada, with a particular fondness for the Red Rock Canyon in Nevada and Sedona, Arizona. His love for animals, especially dogs, was evident in his decades of caring for homeless and abandoned dogs, often providing them with food and shelter at his residence until they found loving homes.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Rufus Rescue of Atlanta, LifeLine of Atlanta, and Well-Point of Chamblee, reflecting Glen's enduring commitment to animal welfare. Glen's adventurous spirit and compassionate heart will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
