Carolyn Stacy Carolyn Stacy Martin of Atlanta died April 15, 2016. Many of her friends knew her as Stacy, the name she preferred. She was born August 4, 1936, as the second of three children to Doris Pade Stacy & James Howard Stacy of Savannah. She was raised & educated in Savannah, attending Thunderbolt School, Savannah High School, & Armstrong College. She moved to Atlanta and married William A. Martin, Jr., her husband of forty seven years. They lived in the same Atlanta home for forty six years. She was a devoted wife, mother & grandmother & an exemplary homemaker. Her biggest interest by far was her family. Her proudest achievement was raising and educating her two children, a daughter & a son, and her greatest joy was her four granddaughters. She was also very interested in keeping up with her group of long term friends, both from Savannah & Atlanta. She especially enjoyed her bridge club, which met twice per month at one another's homes for many years. She described them as the nicest group of ladies she could have associated with. She was an avid reader, always having at least one book she was reading. She kept a list of all the books she had read, they numbered in the hundreds. In addition to her husband she is survived by her daughter, Stacy Martin Payne, of Charlotte, NC, her son William A. Martin, III, of Richmond, VA., four granddaughters, Anne Carter Payne, Carolyn Grant Payne of Charlotte, NC, Katherine Harris Martin & Sallie Pade Martin of Richmond, VA, two brothers, Hugh Thomas Pade Stacy of Savannah, GA and Jay Howard Stacy of Columbus, NC.
