Diego was born on June 21st, 1958 in Toronto, Canada. A true bookworm at heart, in his younger years, he was known for excelling in math and sciences. He had a love for road rallies, a distaste for his mother’s preparation of cow brains, and enjoyed weekend trips to trade shows with his dad and siblings. Diego went on to graduate from Waterloo University in 1982 with a degree in Systems Design Engineering. He celebrated his accomplishments and joy for life by backpacking Europe before returning home to start his first job with Everest & Jennings. Diego put his engineering degree to good use and had a lengthy career in product design, executive management, and web design for several medical equipment companies.
Diego married the love of his life, Mary Leigh in 1983. They grew up together on the same street. Mary was a good friend of his younger sister Silvia. They were married for 38 years and were blessed with three children, one grandson, and countless dogs. He shared so many memories with his children of storytelling, working with tools, staying up late doing homework, holidays, and family vacations. His love for his family was unconditional. He was their pillar for love, joy, and support.
Diego had a special way of touching others' hearts through his talents. He was a caring friend and neighbor to all. Most recently, he was the proud owner of NCN Handyman and touched people not only through his work, but his conversation as well. He had a gift of connecting with everyone. He would come home on a regular basis and tell many stories of his beloved clients and friends. He was able to fix almost anything and if he didnt know how, then he would find a way through teaching himself. His wife and children can testify to that.
Diego lived a very full life and enjoyed many things. He was adventurous and loved to travel and learn all about the places he visited. He loved telling stories which progressively got longer as he got older…according to his family. He enjoyed the simple things in life like reading a book in the sun which he was found doing on every vacation. He loved Italian food, and although he didn’t have much of a sweet tooth, he would never turn down a piece of his daughter’s tiramisu.
Diego was predeceased by his father Rino Picchetti, mother Amelia Picchetti, and brother Aldo Picchetti. He is survived by his wife Mary Leigh; his daughters Natalie Picchetti-Moos (husband Noah) and Christina Picchetti (husband Sander); his son Nicholas Picchetti; his grandson Sebastian Picchetti-Silva; and his sister Silvia DiGironimo (husband Domenic).
