Jewell Diane Willard was born to Jasper and Lorene Willard on July 1, 1946. She grew up mostly in Chamblee as the youngest of 6 children, adored. Jewell had congenital cerebral palsy with epilepsy, which doctors believed was untreatable, giving her parents a bleak outlook for her future, with little hope. Jewell surpassed all of the doctor’s expectations though, learning to walk, write and many other life skills. She proved the nay-sayers wrong by living a full, long life. She has always been determined, no matter the case.
Jewell especially loved music and singing, and spent a great deal of time with her Charlie Pride and Elvis records! She also enjoyed Rubik's cubes of all types and jigsaw puzzles, and could throw a 500 piece jigsaw puzzle together in no time! Her family members were no match for her in this. Jewell was also very convincing when she wanted another ‘forbidden’ Mountain Dew or candy. Several of her nieces and nephews, even grown siblings, were often coaxed to sneak one or the other around her mother or pretend it was their's until the coast was clear. She was not lacking in craftiness, for sure.
Jewell was a beautiful soul with a great sense of humor. She was known for always having a smile to share and finding lots of laughter in the ordinary days during her life. Though she lived the last 20 years of her life in a nursing home, she has been content in whatsoever state she’s found herself, having made many special friends and people around her that loved her dearly. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
This is not goodbye, sweet Jewell
but simply ‘until we meet again in that city’.
