It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joanne Marie Woods, who passed away peacefully on August 21, 2026, at the age of 90. She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Richard Woods. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Beatrice Bidell; brother Donald Bidell; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harold and Emma Woods; and grandson, Jordan Woods. She is survived by her four children and their spouses: Kathleen and Stephen Riexinger, Mary Jo and Lee Harvey; David and Jackie Woods; and Michelle and Joe Foster. She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
We would like to thank New Horizons Limestone Long Term Care in Gainesville, and NEGA Hospice for the compassionate and thoughtful ways they cared for mom and all of us.
A funeral mass honoring Joanne will be held Monday, August 31, 2026, at 11am at St. Oliver Plunkett Catholic Church, Snellville, GA.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Emory or Emory Winship Cancer Institute.
