Keith Timothy Yates, affectionately known as “Yogi,” was born on March 6, 1955 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Charles Edward Yates and Charlene Yates. He peacefully entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at his home in Sandy Springs, Georgia.
Keith received his education in the public schools of Kings County, graduating from Grover Cleveland High School in Queens, New York in 1972 and later obtained an Associate’s Degree in Occupational Studies from Taylor Business Institute in 1979. Following his education, Keith began a long and dedicated career with Time Warner Cable, where he was known not only for his professionalism but also for his kindness and commitment to serving his community. His work connected people—both literally and figuratively—and his presence was deeply valued by those he served.
Keith’s life was rich with passion and purpose. He was an avid traveler who explored the world as a travel agent, a devoted youth football coach who inspired countless boys through teamwork and discipline (and somehow managed to convince a New York youth league to adopt the name Raiders in tribute to a lifelong devotion to his favorite team!), and an avid “foodie” who could often be found researching and trying new recipes. Keith spent his latter years honing his skills as a talented, self-taught digital photographer whose remarkable images were displayed in local art galleries and establishments. His creative eye and joyful spirit captured the beauty of life in every frame.
To his family and friends, Keith was more than his accomplishments—he was a man of dedication, humor, and boundless love. He will be remembered for his gentle heart, infectious smile, and unwavering devotion to those he cherished.
Keith leaves to treasure his memory the loves of his life: Charlene Lindsey, Michele Paisley, and Myles Paisley of New York/New Jersey; one beloved brother, Jerome Yates of Crestview, Florida; his devoted aunt, Eleanor Washington of Duluth, Georgia; two adored grandsons, Bryce Paisley and Ejura Shirley; one precious granddaughter, Naomi Lindsey; one nephew, Jalal Scott and a host of cousins, extended family members and dear friends who will miss him deeply.
Keith “Yogi” Yates lived a life full of laughter, compassion, and adventure. Though he is no longer with us in body, his love, light, and legacy will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
