Mitchell moved to Hilton, NY, to pick apples, then to Rochester, NY, where he became a welder at Rochester Concrete until the company closed. He then became a heavy machine operator at Atkins Scrap Yard, until he retired at age 65. After retirement, he helped raise his granddaughter and many other children. At age 79 he moved to Georgia, with his daughter to live out his remaining days in care and comfort.
Mitchell enjoyed fishing, spending time with friends and tinkering with anything that had “nuts and bolts”. He could fix and build anything.
Mitchell transitioned from labor to reward on May 18, 2022.
He is preceded in death by his son John Lee King.
He leaves to cherish his memory, sons; Mitchell King Jr., Michael King, and Jahmar King. Daughters; Denise “Peaches” Collins (Anthony), and Michelle King. Granddaughters; MyNezia, MyNazia, Ariella, Miranda and Brooklyn and a host of nieces, nephews and devoted friends.
