Robert “Bob” R. Chickillo, of Alpharetta, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 19, 2021. He was born on August 28, 1945 in Scranton, Pennsylvania, to Carmen and Consetta Chickillo.
Bob was a highly motivated individual and earned his bachelor’s degree from The University of Scranton, in the mid-1960’s prior to serving his country as a First Lieutenant in Vietnam from 1968-1970. Upon returning home, he went on to earn his Master’s in Business Administration, at The University of Scranton.
Bob had an exciting and successful career with IBM as in internal auditor for more than thirty years. As an audit manager for IBM’s Asia-Pacific Group, he spent several years residing in Tokyo, Japan and working throughout Southeast Asia. After his tenure at IBM, Bob worked as an independent auditor, until 2020, upon retirement. Bob was very detail oriented and displayed a wonderful knack of problem solving for his clients.
Bob truly lived life to the fullest with his travels and experiences, although he most enjoyed life’s simple pleasures; chatting with friends on his back porch, gardening, hosting dinner parties, and spending time with his daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren.
Bob spent his last several years volunteering at his local American Legion Chapter, helping to run day-to-day operations and social activities; he loved giving back to Veterans and enjoyed the wonderful friendships he made there.
Robert is survived by his daughter, Diane Dennis; a son-in-law, Brian Dennis; and his grandchildren, Greyson and Amelia Dennis.
Family and friends, as well as others whose lives Robert touched, are invited to an outdoor, socially distanced, memorial service on Saturday, February 6th at 2pm at American Legion Post #201, 201 Wills Road, Alpharetta, GA 30009.
A Celebration of Life memorial will also be held in Scranton, Pennsylvania in the Spring; date to be determined.
