Ted Clifton Tucker died on February 26, 2017 at 80 years old. Born to Anthon Lund Tucker and Vivian Madsen Tucker, Ted was raised in Salt Lake City. A state of Utah high jump record holder, he earned a scholarship to the University of Utah and was a proud ‘Runnin’ Ute’ his entire life. Upon graduation, he was a teacher and coach in the Salt Lake City public high school system.
In 1956, Ted married Bonnie Lou Hansen, the girl of his dreams, and had three children. As a business man who relocated frequently, Ted and his wife were the navigators, leading the family across the country, broadening their children’s view of the world and enriching their lives. They lived in Utah, Washington, Oregon, and Connecticut, ultimately settling in the Atlanta area where they have resided for 44 years.
Ted was a devoted (and courteous) supporter at his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and performances. He enjoyed the company of a large group of friends with whom he socialized frequently. In his latter years, he was a faithful and active member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He acted as chauffeur to many and was meticulous about his home and garden. He loved his family, all sports, and most assuredly his wife Bonnie.
Once again, Ted is a leader, illuminating every path on the journey from the physical to the spiritual world.
Ted is survived by his wife of 61 years, Bonnie Tucker, his daughter Sandy Brown (Steve) of Boulder, CO, son Brad (Shay) of Mobile, AL, son Brian (Ann Marie) of Lawrenceville, brother Roger (Beth) Tucker of Salt Lake City, UT, and 7 grandchildren: Sam and Jay Brown, Andrew, Michael and Sidney Tucker and Brandon and Samantha Tucker, and brother-in-law Stanton L. Mathews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Dawna Vee Mathews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 11 at 11 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 3355 Sugarloaf Parkway, Lawrenceville, GA 30044. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ted’s name to the Gwinnett Medical Center Foundation, 1755 N. Brown Road, Suite 100, Lawrenceville, GA, 30043 or www.GMCGiving.com.
Arrangements under the direction of Advantage Funeral & Cremation Service, Lilburn, GA.
