

Don Jacobsen passed away on July 12, 2025, at the age of 93 and he is now with his Lord and Savior. He was born in Yonkers, NY and is survived by his daughter Donna Lee and her husband Dr. Thaddaeus Poe of Danville, IN, son Dwight Jacobsen and wife Sally of Jupiter, FL. Also survived by his wife Dee whom he married in 2020. Dee has two sons, Greg and Eric Gregory and two daughters-in-laws Marishka and Ginger. Together they have 13 grandchildren along with nine great grandchildren. Don was predeceased by his wife Shirley in 2017 and two sisters. He is survived by one sister, Barbara Olson. Mr. Jacobsen earned a BA degree from Taylor University in Upland, Indiana in 1953 and an MS degree from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Business in NYC in 1955. During the summer of 1953 he traveled to five Asian countries with a college basketball team promoting Christian understanding and international goodwill. He is a graduate of AT&T Management Training Program, the Brookings Advanced Study Program, and earned a CPM in 1976. While in the military for two years, he married Shirley and was a special agent in the Counterintelligence Corps serving in Japan after the Korean War had ended. Don spent 33 years with AT&T and Western Electric successfully managing organizations in manufacturing, industrial relations, finance, quality engineering and other administrative positions. His final responsibility before retiring in 1989 with AT&T was as director of regional operations, materials management, and national contracting. He was a member of the Taylor University Board of Trustees from 1974-2006 and served as Chairman from 1981-1984 along with Chairman of the William Taylor Foundation from 1981-1990. After retiring from AT&T officially on January 2nd, 1990, he continued serving on boards, as a volunteer and worked for several ministries directly and companies including Ravi Zacharias International Ministry, Christian Financial Concepts, Amerson Music, Outreach Health Care, Ronald Blue, Legacy of Truth, Gospel Volunteers, Right Path Resources and The Jackson Institute. The Jacobsen’s enjoyed living in ten different states and traveling to many countries around the world by land and cruises. Don was an active member of Perimeter Church (Presbyterian Church of America) in Johns Creek, GA. The Life Celebration Service will be held on August 1st, 2025, at 11:00 am at Perimeter Church, 9500 Medlock Bridge Road, Johns Creek, GA 30097. The family will receive friends immediately following the served in the Day Chapel at the same Johns Creek address. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Taylor University, for the Don Jacobsen Endowed Scholarship Fund, 236 West Reade Avenue, Upland, IN 46989-1001.
