

On September 21, 1931, Warren was born in Reading, PA to Thomas Harold Deeds and Mary Ellen Hoffman. Warren resided at 366 Hellers Court until he was called to Active Duty in the US Navy in Nov. of 1951. Warren was a Berks County Dutchman whose ancestors all arrived from Europe before the American Revolution. In Berks and neighboring counties of SE PA his ancestors were the original European settlers for the area. Some came as early as 1683 and were among the first German settlers in Germantown, PA. Warren was baptized and confirmed at Hope Lutheran church in Reading, PA. His Lutheran roots run deep as he has ancestors that were baptized and married by the Rev Henry Muhlenberg, known as the father of the Lutheran church in America. Many an Ancestor can be found at the Earliest Lutheran/ German Reformed/ Union churches of SE PA. Warren himself has also been a member of South Miami, Good Shepard, Christ Our Hope, Christ Our Shepherd, and Cross of Life Lutheran churches.
Warren graduated from Reading High school in 1950. Being a Red Knight was point of pride as he enjoyed returning and attending reunions. Shortly after graduation, Warren entered Active Service in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. After boot camp in Maryland, schools in Jacksonville, FL and Millington, TN he spent his active-duty time on NAS North Island, San Diego, CA. Upon conclusion of Active-Duty service, Warren took the path of earlier PA Dutch cousins who followed the Indian trails south as he headed to South Florida where a few of his uncles had moved. Here he met his wife Martha at an airline softball game, and they married in 1959 in Thrapston, UK where he was working at the time. They returned to Miami and in 1968 moved to Atlanta, Georgia where he and Martha continue to raise their family They lived in College Park, Fairburn, and Roswell.
Warren is survived by; sons W. Derrick Deeds, his wife Andrea, and David M. Deeds; grandchildren Warren M. Deeds, his wife Anna, great-granddaughter Freya and Karla I. Herrington, her husband Pete; with great-grandchildren Logan and Harper Herrington.
Warren was predeceased by his wife of 62 years and 361 days, Martha, son Darrell A. Deeds, his parents Thomas H. Deeds and Mary E. Hoffman, his sisters Ella E. (Betty) Deeds Porr, Vivian Mary Deeds brothers Harold T. Deeds and Richard I. Deeds.
Warren’s primary occupation was Airline Mechanic. He worked for a variety of airlines before being hired by Eastern Airlines. At Eastern, he worked various jobs to include Wheel and Brake Shop but spent most of his days working in Building Maintenance until his retirement in the late 80s. While working at Eastern he was an active member of the Machinists Union. He served as President of Local Lodge 1690 in Forest Park, Ga. He was member of the Atlanta Labor Council as recording Secretary. He served as Vice President of District 100, which covered all Eastern Airlines. In the later part of the eighties, he ran for President of District 100 against Charles Bryan. Also, during his time at Eastern, management selected him to lead a charity campaign for which he was recognized for its success.
In retirement, he continued to stay active becoming a lobbyist for AARP to the Georgia State Legislature. His actions and works led to an award and ceremony recognizing his accomplishments. He and Martha also worked supporting food entities that aided those in need.
Services will be held on Saturday, December 6th at 11:00 AM at Cross of Life Lutheran Church, located at 1000 Hembree Rd, Roswell, GA, with a light lunch to follow.
