Born on September 15, 2004, at Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Abby brought joy, laughter and love to everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Abby was the beloved daughter of Chuck and Holly Permenter; cherished sister of Charlie Permenter (Peyton Gerald) and Peyton Permenter; proud aunt to her nephew, Charlie Mac, whom she was blessed to meet and love; and a treasured niece, cousin, and friend to so many whose lives were forever changed by her love and kindness.
Abby loved her family fiercely. She loved the ocean, sunny days on the water, concerts, fishing with dad, brother and Pawpaw, creating art and spending time with those who loved her most!
She was an accomplished swimmer whose determination and dedication earned her numerous achievements throughout her youth. She was intelligent, creative, funny, and wonderfully sarcastic, with a quick wit that could make anyone laugh.
Abby had a heart unlike any other. She was thoughtful beyond her years and possessed an extraordinary ability to make others feel seen, valued, and loved. Whether through a carefully chosen gift, a heartfelt conversation, or a simple act of kindness. Abby had a way of making people feel special. She believed in treating everyone with dignity and respect and was a passionate advocate for those who felt unheard or overlooked.
Behind Abby’s beautiful smile was a courage that many people never had the chance to fully see. Diagnosed with Behcet’s disease, Abby spent years courageously battling the complications of this rare autoimmune disorder. Since 2016, she and her family made countless trips to Duke Medical Center, always pursuing treatment, answers, and hope. Through every setback, Abby continued to fight with remarkable strength, resilience, and determination. While her illness became part of her story, it never defined her. Her kindness, compassion, intelligence, humor and love for others will always be her true legacy.
To know Abby was to know compassion. Her smile was contagious, her spirit unforgettable, and her impact immeasurable.
Though her time on earth was far too short, Abby’s legacy of love, kindness, generosity, and acceptance will continue to live on in all who knew her.
She leaves behind a family who loved her deeply, countless friends who will miss her dearly, and a world made better simply because she was here.
Please honor Abby’s memory by extending kindness to others, standing up for those who need a voice, and loving people exactly as they are.
And as Harry Styles says,” Treat people with kindness”
Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever our Abby Lou.
