Andrew was born on September 15, 1965, in Wilmington, Delaware, to James and Arline Brown. He shared his childhood with great friends, cousins, and his three brothers, playing sports and enjoying endless adventures in the woods behind his home. He attended John Dickinson Senior High School and graduated in 1983.
Andy then attended High Point College in North Carolina, graduating in 1987. Those four years had a profound impact on his life. Through the college ROTC program, Andy earned his commission as an officer in the United States Army. At High Point, Andy also gained new, lifelong brothers with the men of the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. Most importantly, it was there that Andy met Holly Felber, who would become his beloved wife of thirty-seven years and the mother to his four sons.
Andy served as an Infantry Officer, Foreign Area Officer, and Defense Attaché during his successful 28-year Army career. He was an Airborne Ranger and Warrior Diplomat, serving in many locations to include Colorado, North Carolina, California, Florida, Morocco, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Lebanon. He was particularly proud of his service in the 82nd Airborne Division.
Since retiring 11 years ago, Andy had been enjoying spending time with family, golfing, and catching up with old and new friends alike. He will be dearly missed.
Andy is preceded in death by his father, James Brown, and his brother, Jimmy Brown.
He is survived by his mother, Arline Brown (of North Myrtle Beach, SC); his wife, Holly (Felber) Brown; and his four sons: Corey Brown and his fiancée McKenna Hoover (of Charleston, SC), Justin Brown and his wife Beesha Badi (of Seoul, South Korea), Brendan Brown and his wife Jacqueline Brown and their children Adalyn and Isabella (of Pensacola, FL), and Riley Brown (of North Myrtle Beach, SC).
He is also survived by his two brothers, Barry Brown and his wife Colleen (Anastasia) Brown (of Stafford, VA), and Doug Brown and his wife Shannon (Diebold) Brown (of Port Saint Lucie, FL); his parents-in-law, Craig and Corky Felber (of North Myrtle Beach, SC); his brother-in-law, Dean Felber and his wife Andrea (of Mt. Pleasant, SC); his sister-in-law, Wendy (Felber) Hopwood and her husband Scott Hopwood (of Conway, SC) and Laurie (Norton) Brown of Bear, DE; and a tight-knit circle of cousins, fraternity brothers, and lifelong friends.
The Brown family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to their friends, extended family, and neighbors for the overwhelming love, prayers, and assistance provided during Andy’s final weeks.
A funeral will be held on 19 June 2026. Please contact the immediate family for time and location if you'd like to attend. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to a charitable cause that honors Andy's memory.
