Arthur Joseph Zawistowski, age 91, of Little River, South Carolina passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, September 20, 2023. Born in Bayonne, New Jersey on March 1, 1932 he was the son of the late Chester and Helen Zawistowski.
Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Eleanor Zawistowski; son, Doug Zawistowski, grandchildren, Brittany Zawistowski, Amber Zawistowski; great-grandchildren, Abel Zawistowski, Blair Zawistowski; sister, Carol Zawistowski; along with several nieces and nephews.
A Bayonne Vocational High School graduate of the class of 1949, Arthur immediately joined the United States Army after graduation. Arthur proudly served in the Army for four years then earned an honorable discharge in 1953. Arthur then became a sheet metal mechanic with the Local Union 25 in Carlstant, New Jersey.
Arthur and Eleanor relocated to South Carolina in 1993 to retire and enjoy life on the Carolina coast. Once the couple made Little River their permanent home, they joined Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Well known for his kindness, humor and patience, Arthur was especially known for his abilities as a handyman and his attention to detail. He enjoyed making models of ships and boats, watching the Atlanta Braves, the New York Giants and spending time with his beloved great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 27, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Lee Funeral Home and Crematory. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Entombment will immediately follow the service at North Myrtle Beach Memorial Gardens.
