Austin Gormley has gone to join his beloved Blanche. Austin was born in Dublin, Ireland, in 1933. He emigrated to Canada from Ireland, then to the United States. He was a man of many talents. His first job was as a golf caddy, where he also learned how to play. He was a mechanic, a welder, a telegraph pole repairman, a truck driver, a bridge demolition specialist, a golf instructor to the stars, an elevator engineer, and a real estate broker. He knew how to blow up rocks with dynamite. He was a fabulous golfer. But what he was best at was being a husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be dearly missed by his children, Paul and Martelle, their partners Emily and Scott, and his four grandchildren, Ronan, Mat, Saoirse, and Eamonn who will always remember their Papa. He is also survived by nieces and nephews around the world. We will always cherish his unwavering support and his relentless optimism.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at Lee Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Please don't send flowers. Dad would probably prefer you send money to your favourite charity or do something nice for someone.
Lee Funeral Home and Crematory of Little River is serving the family.
