Barbara was born in Boston, Massachusetts to Herbert Downs and Pauline Maule Downs on April 10,1944. She attended the University of Buffalo before starting her career as a IT project manager in financial services and ended her IT career working for JP Morgan Chase. Barbara then ran the Jeremiah Hand House Bed and Breakfast in Cape May, New Jersey. While running the bed and breakfast she also served as the events director for the local Chamber of Commerce.
She is survived by her partner of 44 years, Bill Fisher and her fur babies Jenny and Benny. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Angelic Hospice for their wonderful care. A special thanks to Teresa Confare who brought her great comfort over the course of many months.
