

Barbara Lee Sams (Dukes) passed away peacefully at her home in Longs, SC on Monday, June 19, 2017 at the age of 70. Barbara was the youngest of five children born to the late John and Katherine (Warner) Dukes. She married Billy Wayne Sams in an intimate ceremony in Middle River MD in October 1966. They were married just shy of 50 years before her beloved passed away. She worked as a scheduler/expeditor supervisor for SCM Chemicals before
retiring to Myrtle Beach.
Barbara was loved by everyone who knew her. She was gifted with craftiness and was an amazing painter. She painted everything from landscapes to animals. An excellent cook, she could cook Betty Crocker under the table. Barbara even won the Grand Strand Cupcake Clash in 2011 with one of her original recipes. She loved to host dinner for family and friends and her
gatherings will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her husband Billy, her parents John and Katherine, and brothers John and Richard.
Barbara is survived her daughter Rhonda Sams Sprinkel of Abingdon, MD; daughter of the heart Candis Coleman of Longs SC and her husband Randy Coleman whom she thought of as her younger brother; her brother Billy Dukes of Pahrump, NV; Grandsons Mason and Jackson Sprinkel and numerous nieces,
nephews, in-laws and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at a later date.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Wampee Baptist Church, 9530 Hwy 90, Longs, SC 29568.
