Very saddened to hear of the passing of my first love Barry.  Yes, he was a wonderful husband and will always be remembered fondly.  My condolences to his family.    

Barry was my father, an Orangetown police officer, and a Marine.  I'll always remember the fond memories of childhood and how hard he worked so my brothers and I can have nice things.  I'll miss our weekly phone conversations where we would solve all the worlds problems.  I will always love and cherish the times we shared.

My husband, Barry Edward Shanahan, was a man of character, highly principled, a true gentleman in every sense of the word, cared deeply for those he loved and impressed me with his humbleness.  His Irish wit was not to be overlooked.  He loved his country as can be witnessed from his service in Vietnam and his illustrious career in the Orangetown Police Dept.  I am so very proud to have been his wife and shared our lives together.  RIP, my sweet husband, in God's eternal care.  Till we meet again.

Barry's family should be proud of the many contributions he made while serving our nation in the armed forces and as member of the Orangetown Police Department. I worked with him during the time his three sons were born. I can remember how much joy and pride these young men brought to his life.  I know he will be missed by all.  My condolences go out to his family members and friends.
