Betsy C. Easton

Our Mother and Family Matriarch, Betsy Carpenter Easton, 84, of North Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away unexpectedly on October 9, 2023. She was born on June 7, 1939, in North Wilkesboro, NC, to the late Lonnie Little and Elizabeth Dark Carpenter.

Her late husband, Grey Easton, was the love of her life. Betsy was just the glue needed to keep the dynamics of a large family together. With her traditional values, she expected her family to be at the dinner table at 6:00 PM and at church on Sundays. As a mother, she expected a positive attitude and the best effort from her children. Her devotion and strength for her daughter Melissa was unwavering. You rarely saw one without the other. They were best friends. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

Betsy had a successful career, initially working as a Legal Assistant and later as a Financial Administrator for the family business, GreyCo Insurance Agency in Charlotte, NC. In 1999, Grey & Betsy sold the business and retired to North Myrtle Beach, residing in Tidewater.

Outside of her career, Betsy found fulfillment playing golf, working with her church, gardening, reading and spending time with her family. In her later years, she enjoyed vacation travel with Melissa and her sisters, Jane Graper, and Nancy Mathis. Family was a priority for Betsy, and she treasured the time spent with her children and grandchildren.

Betsy is survived by her sister, Nancy Carpenter Mathis, loving sons, Donald Easton, Scott Easton, Scott Malcolm, and Michael Easton; daughters Penny Ratcliff, and Melissa Malcolm, fourteen grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Grey Easton, and sister, Jane Graper.

Betsy's life will be celebrated at a memorial service on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Little River United Methodist Church in Little River, SC with graveside services immediately following.
