Betty Coggeshall

Betty Hendrick Coggeshall, born June 1, 1950, in Conway, South Carolina, began her heavenly life surrounded by the love of her family. A lifelong South Carolinian, Betty lived a beautiful life marked by her love of family, faith, art, and the water. In her later years, she made her home at River Park Assisted Living in Little River, South Carolina, where she was lovingly cared for. Betty was the beloved daughter of R.H. “Bob” Hendrick and Ginny Hendrick.

Betty enjoyed boating and water skiing on the Waccamaw River and had a lifelong love of tap dancing. She participated in many local beauty pageants, was crowned Miss Conway High in 1967 and Miss Coastal Carolina in 1969, and competed in the Miss South Carolina Pageant.

After graduating from Conway High School, Betty attended USC Coastal Carolina and earned her bachelor’s degree in education. She taught for several years before retiring from Horry County Schools.

Betty later worked alongside her husband in real estate and construction, and together they started The Adult Daycare of South Carolina.

A gifted and accomplished artist, Betty was especially known for her beautiful Lowcountry scenes, which reflected her love for the natural beauty of the South Carolina coast.

Betty was a lifelong Methodist whose faith remained an important part of her life. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in North Myrtle Beach.

She was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, W.D. (Billy) Coggeshall; her parents, R.H. “Bob” and Ginny Hendrick; her sister, Libby Stroman; and her grandson, Beau Francis Crawford.

Betty is survived by her sister, Linda P. Hendrick; her son, Bryan C. (Hudson) Coggeshall, and his wife, Katie; bonus children, Dargan Coggeshall (Beth), Chandler Coggeshall (Shar), and Clare Crawford (Charlie); grandchildren, Anna Cox (Matt), Wilds Coggeshall (Izzy), Pearce Coggeshall (Allie), Lawton Coggeshall, Cale Wilson, Katarina Coggeshall, Reese Coggeshall, Dillon Crawford (Taylor), Grace Crawford, Elizabeth Dixon, Adelaide Crawford, and South Crawford; and great-grandchildren, Sophia Kate, Emery, Hadley Gene, and Chandler Wells.

The family extends its deepest gratitude to the loving and caring staff of the River Park Memory Care Unit—you know who you are—as well as Sam and Nancy with Gentiva Hospice. The compassion, kindness, and genuine love shown to Betty brought comfort not only to her, but also to those who loved her. Your tender care will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

Betty’s greatest legacy lives on through the family she loved so dearly and the many lives she touched. She will be remembered for her beautiful spirit, creativity, faith, and the joy she found in family, art, and the beauty of the Lowcountry.

While Betty will be deeply missed, her family finds peace in knowing that she is at home with the lord and reunited with the loved ones who went before her. Her life was a blessing, her memory will be treasured, and her love will remain in our hearts always.

A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Lee Funeral Home in Little River, South Carolina.
