

Betty was born in Bennettsville, South Carolina on February 15, 1948. She was the daughter of Ralph and Molly Creech. Betty lived in Bennettsville along with her parents and three sisters Tricia, Linda and Nancy until 1959 when the family moved to Stamford, Connecticut.
In 1966, Betty graduated from Rippowam High School. After graduation, Betty went to work at The Raytheon Company in Stamford as an administrative assistant.
On August 30, 1969 Betty Jo married the love of her, life William A. Genovese (Bill) of Stamford. The couple moved to Darien, Connecticut, where they raised their two sons Winston and William Jr, (Bill).
While working at Raytheon, Betty enjoyed helping her husband Bill, brothers-in-law and sister-in-law operate their family restaurant, Lords in Stamford. Later she would also help the family as they added two additional restaurants, Fieldstone Terrace and Fieldstone Manor.
Betty enjoyed spending time with family and friends, often enjoying family boat days on Long Island Sound where they would have cookouts on “the island” and enjoy water sports and relaxing. Betty also enjoyed Sunday family dinners and family holiday gatherings.
In 1989, Betty and Bill moved to Myrtle Beach where Betty would eventually begin her 30 plus years of employment as the administrative assistant at Sands Ocean Club Resort. Betty was well loved by the staff, guests and owners of the resort.
Betty was involved with charities in the community that helped feed feral cats and rehome kittens and cats to their furever homes. She also fostered many cats over the years and helped raise funds for the organizations.
Betty is survived by her sons, Winston, William Jr. (Kristen); grandson, Michael (Alexandra); sisters, Patrica Pruitt (Roy), Linda Ritch, Nancy Carlucci (Frank): sisters-in-law, Carolyn Harvey (John), Marie Genovese; as well as many nieces and nephews. Betty is preceded in death by her loving husband William.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026, from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm at Lee Funeral Home and Crematory, 11840 SC-Hwy 90, Little River, South Carolina, 29566.
