

Bonnie Porter Gore, age 83, of Tabor City, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 7, 2026, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly. She was born in Tabor City on September 4, 1943, to the late Grover and Ethel Porter.
Bonnie, the matriarch of her family, was affectionately known as “Mema.” She was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, and a treasured presence in the lives of all who knew her. She spent her life loving and caring for her family and serving as a loving part of her community.
Bonnie was a devoted Christian and a longtime member of New Life Baptist Church. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she found strength and comfort in her relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Bonnie had a special love for gardening. She found joy in working in her yard, tending to her flowers, and creating beautiful floral arrangements. She will be remembered for her loving heart, her devotion to her family, and the many memories she created with those she held dear.
Bonnie is survived by her children, Angela Gore, Mark Gore, and Amy Harris (Dean); brother, Dean Porter (Char); her grandchildren, Kayla Holmes (Michael), Thomas Turnage, Stonie Spivey (Hailey), Chase Gore (Josie), Riley Leggett (Chay), Colton Spivey, Reid Gore (McKynzie), Megan Haveri (Gauge), Mitchell Harris (Erin), and Shannon Weaver (Ryan); great-grandchildren, Lilly Holmes, Evan Holmes, Taylor Holmes, Ellie Shaw, Jaxsyn Spivey, Greylyn Spivey, Masyn Spivey, Lyla Goodson, Ella Grace Gore, Kimber Gore, Camden Leggett, and Chaylee Leggett, with another precious great-granddaughter on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents along with her husband of 47 years, Thomas Grant Gore; her brother, Gene Porter; and her sister-in-law, Dorothy Porter.
Her family will forever cherish the love she gave so freely, the wisdom she shared, and the countless memories made together. Though her presence will be deeply missed, her love will continue to live on through the generations of family she leaves behind.
A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, September, 13, 2026 at New Life Baptist Church, 420 New Life Church Road, Tabor City, NC 28463. Visitation will be held from 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM prior to the service. Interment will immediately follow at Myrtle Green Cemetery, 11319 Old Stake Road, Tabor City, NC 28463.
