Brenda Murphy, of Little River, South Carolina, passed away on August 30, 2026. Her life was full of love, laughter, and adventure, and although her time was cut short, she spent her final years doing what she enjoyed most — living fully and joyfully. She was best known for having the best smile in the room.
Brenda was born on October 19, 1942, and on May 13, 1961, she married the love of her life, John “Chris” Murphy. Together they shared a beautiful marriage of more than sixty years, raising a family built on devotion, humor, and unwavering support.
Little River became Brenda’s favorite place she ever lived. Her villa was her sanctuary — a warm, welcoming home filled with sunlight, comfort, and the peace she cherished. She loved the quiet mornings by the pond watching the turtles and ducks. She greatly enjoyed spending time living in the same neighborhood with her daughter and the friendly community she built around her and the sense of calm that surrounded her. She looked forward to her lunches and events she attended with her daughter Doreen that occurred several times a week.
Brenda went on a cruise in January she absolutely adored with her daughter, Doreen. She spent the trip enjoying the ocean air, relaxing, laughing, and making new memories. It was a reminder of her spirit — always ready to explore, enjoy life, and embrace every moment.
Brenda is survived by her children: Christopher (Donna) Murphy, Doreen (Dale) Roberts, and Matthew (Michele Obrotka) Murphy. Her grandchildren Ashley Walker, Christopher Murphy Jr., Brittany Bates, and Stephen Murphy. Her step grandchildren Jessica, Kevin, Tyler, and Logan Bach. Her great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many loved ones who will forever carry her memory.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, John “Chris” Murphy, her two brothers, Marvin and Richard, and her parents.
Brenda will be remembered for her kindness, her strength, her smile, her humor, and the way she made every person feel loved. Above all, she treasured her family — and her family treasured her right back.
