It is with a heavy heart we make this announcement that on Thursday, March 24th we unexpectedly lost our husband, father, friend, fossil and digging buddy Brian Smarrella.
Brian was born in Steubenville Ohio, March 15, 1967. He worked as a Territory Manager with USFoods for 18 years. He was an avid relic, fossil and shark tooth hunter. He was a devoted father and husband and enjoyed being outside in search of the ultimate find. He was a member of the East Coast Fossil Club and The Palmetto Metal Detecting Club. Loyal, kind hearted, dependable, hardworking and loved, he is going to be greatly missed by so many.
He is survived by his wife Cheryl of 26 years, their three sons; Aaron, Nick and Dylan; his parents Phillip and Mary Smarrella; his in-laws, Tony Maloney and his wife, Sandy; his brother-in-law Brenden Molin and wife Jessica Byrd; his sister-in-law Anne and husband Will McDonald along with their two children Sarah and Patrick and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
There will be a service honoring his life on April 2, 2016 at 11:00 am at Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church, North Myrtle Beach with a reception immediately following in the Family Life Center.
In lieu of flowers, there has been a fund set up through King of Glory Lutheran Church in North Myrtle Beach. Donations can be made to King of Glory Lutheran Church by April 22nd. Please note that all donations must be marked on the memo line to the TLC Teachers Fund c/o The Smarrella Family.
Poem below is donated by his sons in their dad’s memory:
"My father was a man who had smiles to brighten your days,
Who always made you feel good with his warm words of praise.
And what’s more he knew what to do to make your wishes come true.
He was my father.
My father was someone who always had good stories to tell,
But just as importantly he knew how to be a good listener as well.
He was patient & kind and the very best friend you could ever hope to find.
He was no ordinary man,
And I’m proud to tell the world that he was my father."
