Bruce Lee Lewis

Bruce Lee Lewis, 74, passed away peacefully in his sleep in Weiterstadt, Germany, on July 1, 2026. Born on May 21, 1952, in Conway, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Otis and Gertrude Lewis. Mr. Lewis is survived by his wife, Andrea; his two brothers, Mike (Sandra) and Keith (Cathy); his three sons, David (Crissy), William, and Phillip; his two daughters, Heather and Lisa; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bruce Lewis was a loving and devoted husband and father. He was a kind, caring, and outgoing man who was always willing to help others. He cared deeply about the well-being of everyone around him and always wanted to ensure that those he loved were doing well.

He was also a man of great responsibility and dedication. Throughout his life, he worked incredibly hard, never settling for giving just one hundred percent — more often than not, he gave one hundred and fifty percent, or even more.

His life was dedicated to service in the U.S. Army. Mr. Lewis was drafted in 1972 and served assignments in Korea (1973), West Germany (1973-1996) and Bosnia-Herzegovina (1996) before retiring from active duty as Chief Warrant Officer 3 (CW3). From 1997 to 2016, Mr. Lewis was employed by the 5th Signal Command, culminating in his assignment as Supervisor Information Management Specialist GS15, Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff, G3.

Combined, Mr. Lewis dedicated 43 years to the U.S. Army through both active-duty and civilian service. His military awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster and the Army Commendation Medal with five Oak Leaf Clusters.

After retiring, supporting fellow veterans became especially important to him. He devoted much of his time and energy to helping the veteran community. It is fair to say that service — to both his country and his fellow veterans — was at the heart of who he was.

Bruce will be remembered for his loving heart, unwavering dedication, generous spirit, strong work ethic, sense of humor, and deep commitment to his family, his country, his fellow veterans, and his community. He gave so much of himself to others and leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and kindness that will continue to live on in all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Lee Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
