Carol Jean Shumsky

She was born in Clarksburg, WV August 29, 1940. She was the oldest daughter of the late William " Doc" Shaw and Rose (Marullo) Shaw. She was preceded in death by her parents, her two sisters, Phyllis Miller and Patricia (Patty ) Shaw, a half brother and her husband James and brother in law Ralph Miller.

Carol was the last surviving member of her family from that generation.

Carol is survived by her daughter Traci (Michael) Lewis, her grandchildren Hannah Lewis, Haleigh Lewis, Pricilla Lewis, Aloria Lewis and Kristian Lewis. 3 great grandchildren Sophia Hemm, Jayda Deputy, and Leo van't Klooster. Two nephews Ralph (Sierra) Miller and Bill Miller and great nieces and nephews.

Carol retired from the Louis A Johnson VA Hospital as the Canteen Chief in Clarksburg WV. She moved to Little River to be close to her daughter and grandchildren.

Carol volunteered at her grandchildren's elementary school and all of children called her grandma. Carol specialties were her fried chicken and her spaghetti sauce but there isn't a meal that she cooked that was not delicious. She would even fry wings or gizzards for the neighbors.

Carol loved to dance, smoke her cigarette's and drink her coffee.

Carol was truly an angel on earth — a loving mother, devoted sister, cherished grandmother, loyal friend, and one of the kindest souls anyone could ever meet.

Her warmth, compassion, and gentle spirit touched every life around her. Carol had a beautiful way of making everyone feel seen, comforted, and deeply loved. She gave endlessly of herself, always offering a helping hand, a listening ear, and a heart full of grace. To know Carol was to know kindness in its purest form.

Family meant everything to her. She treasured every moment spent with her child and grandchildren, filling their lives with unconditional love, laughter, warmth, and precious memories that will live on forever. Her love was steady, gentle, and unwavering — the kind of love that remains long after goodbye.

Though our hearts are broken by her loss, we are forever grateful for the gift of her life and the love she shared so freely. Her beautiful spirit will continue to shine through all who were blessed to know her.
