Charles Monroe Holmes, 52, of North Myrtle Beac h, SC, passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at North Strand ER of North Myrtle Beach after a brief illness.
Born on January 26, 1966 in Marlboro County, SC, Charles was the son of Fannie (Sandy) Johnson Holmes and the late Oree Holmes. He is predeceased by his sister, Sandra Kay Holmes (10/ 22/ 74).
Charles was a 1984 graduate of North Myrtle Beach High School and worked with the City of North Myrtle Beach before advancing his career to property management of family rentals, which he and his mother pursued upon her retirement from the City of North Myrtle Beach. Charles took pride in his work as a handyman, and repairman for the properties and worked diligently with others to maintain the properties. Charles had a genuine love for family and his faithful friend and mentor Keith Hardin of North Myrtle Beach. His pastime included fishing and harvesting oysters for family and friends. He was a very private and deeply caring person, always asking about others and demonstrating genuine respect and appreciation for the little things in life which, in essence, are the most important things in life.
He is survived by his daughter Sandra Nicole Holmes Fultz (Larry) and her mother Angie Holmes Green, uncles Eston Johnson (Melba) and Lavern Johnson (Betty) both of Loris, SC. He is predeceased by uncles Eugene Johnson of Marion, SC and Milton Johnson of Conway, SC.
A memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, October 27 in Lee Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Wayne Brown officiating. Burial will be private at the gravesite of his sister, Sandra Kay Holmes.
Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home one hour prior to the service and also following the service before adjourning to the First Baptist Church of North Myrtle Beach for a reception sponsored by the Adult Workers Sunday School Class.
