Dana J Gross

Born in Rockland, Maine, he spent his early childhood there before moving with his family to East Hampton, Connecticut, in 1961. He graduated from East Hampton High School with the Class of 1965. Following graduation, he proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1965 to 1969 during the Vietnam era as an Aircraft Maintenance Specialist.

After his military service, he continued his career with Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, where he worked from 1965 until his retirement in 2002. He began his career as a machinist and, through years of dedication and hard work, ultimately retired as a Project Manager.

He shared 54 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Irene Gross. Together, they made their home primarily in Hebron, Connecticut, before retiring to Little River, South Carolina.

He will be remembered for his many interests and passions. He enjoyed playing guitar, chess, reading, and history, and he loved to travel, especially by cruise ship. Above all, he had a deep love for the ocean and cherished his countless trips to Maine, a place that remained especially close to his heart.

He leaves behind his loving sons, Jeffrey Roy of Little River, South Carolina, and Shawn Carroll and his wife, Jennifer, of Somers, Connecticut. He is also survived by his beloved niece, Claudine Verdone, and her family of Lake Helen, Florida, along with friends who will miss him dearly.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Legacy Assisted Living for the kindness and care they provided, as well as to hospice nurses Jennifer and Pam of Amedisys Hospice for their compassionate care and support.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach in his memory.

At this time, there will be no services held. The family invites those who knew and loved him to remember him through the stories, travels, music, and memories they shared together.
