

Dan was born in Buffalo, NY and grew up in the St. Rose of Lima parish. He was one of four sons of William Joseph Farley and Alice Shields Farley. He and his brothers attended and graduated from Canisius High School where each are enshrined in their athletic hall of fame as members of the football team.
Twins, Dan and Dave were recruited to play football at The Citadel, Charleston, SC where they both graduated from in 1967 and Dan met Cathey Webb Burrell and married. Dan served in the U.S. Army as a field artillery officer in the Republic of Vietnam in 1968 – 1969 earning a Bronze Star and an Army Commendation Medal for valor for actions at Dak To. He eventually retired from the U.S. Army Reserve.
He began his career after being released from active duty as a corporate financial professional for Western Electric in New Jersey while earning his M.B.A. from Fordham University and progressed through several positions working for AT&T and after 31 years, retired from Lucent Technologies in 2001.
He enjoyed playing golf, Buffalo Bills football and being an advocate for the Veterans of Foreign Wars where he was the Quartermaster for 19 years at Post 10804 and recognized numerous times including as All American Post Quartermaster.
He is survived by his wife Cathey, Son Greg (Sara), Daughter Katherine (Joel), Son Dan (Erica), Son Brendan (Heather) and seven grandchildren, Amanda, Cole, Will, Kai, Liam, Lilly and Daniel.
There will be a visitation at Lee Funeral Home on Thursday, August 27th at 2PM with a Celebration of Life starting at 3PM. Afterward there will be a reception at VFW Post # 10804 and a funeral service at Our Lady Star of the Sea on Friday, the 28th at 1PM.
Instead of flowers, Dan requests donations be made to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 10804, N. Myrtle Beach, SC.
