Debbie was born June 11, 1949 to Bruce and Myrtle Matthews in Raleigh, North Carolina. She was the fifth of six girls. She grew up in the Raleigh area and graduated high school there.
Debbie met her husband, Terry Holmes, at a bowling alley in Raleigh. They were on opposing teams. Terry was able later to convince Debbie to “Join” his team and they were married June 29, 1980.
Together they had two sons, Douglas Ryan Holmes and Wallace Blakely Holmes and one dear daughter-in-law Amanda Ivey Holmes.
Debbie and Terry lived in Raleigh, NC, Clinton NC, Shreveport and New Orleans, Louisiana. Debbie worked in banking, construction administration and pediatric dentistry while moving with Terry. In 2012 they
retired and moved to their current home in North Myrtle Beach.
She is survived by her husband, Terry; sons Doug and Blake and his wife Amanda; three surviving sisters,
Barbara Ryals, Patsy Hill, Barrie Owenby and multiple nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family, friends and others whose lives were touched by Debbie are invited to Lee Funeral Home 11840 HWY 90 Little River, SC from 4 to 5 PM on Saturday, March 20 to reminisce, grieve, support each other and of course, just chat.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests a contribution to The American Cancer Society.
