Deborah was a devoted and loving mother, “Mama Deborah,” sister, and faithful member of Living Water Baptist Church. She grew up in the Floyds community and graduated from Floyds High School. She later obtained her teaching degree from Pembroke Community College.
Deborah loved teaching children and dedicated 36 years of her life to education. She began her teaching career at Hallsboro-Artesia Elementary School and retired from Guideway Elementary School, where she touched the lives of countless students and families throughout the years.
She found great joy in traveling with family and friends, fishing on the Waccamaw River, shopping, and cooking for her family. Deborah especially cherished the time spent creating memories with those she loved most.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Ralph Huggins, and her granddaughter, Meredith Grace Porter.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Bebe Porter, and her husband, Mark Porter; grandchildren, Blake Freeman, Macey Freeman, and Brenyn Porter; and seven great-grandchildren: Stormi Conner, Brixton Conner, Emily Mayhew, Ava Pinco, Chase Freeman, Tyler Freeman, and Carly Freeman.
She is also survived by her siblings: Sandra Burroughs of Loris; Joyce Hussey of Asheboro; Sheila Duncan of Nichols; Mike McDaniel of Little River; Darius McDaniel of Sumter; and Luvada McNeace of Chillicothe.
Deborah was blessed to have wonderful caregivers including Beverly Cooke, Karen Porter, Kim Thompson, Andrea Turner, and Davis and Miranda Trussell. Bebe extends her heartfelt gratitude to these amazing individuals who showed unrelenting support, love, and care for her mama.
Her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
