Deborah Ann Van Evera

Deborah Ann Van Evera, age 72, of Longs, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, July 16, 2026. Born in Boyertown, Pennsylvania, on February 19, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Vernon Haught and Ruth Cottrill Haught.

Deborah was first and foremost a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and faithful servant of God. She dedicated many years to being a loving stay-at-home wife and mother, creating a home filled with warmth, love, and unwavering support for her family. Later in life, she found a new calling in home health care, where her compassionate heart and gentle spirit allowed her to care for others with dignity and kindness.

A woman of many talents, Deborah worked alongside her beloved husband, Warren, helping with his truck repair shop, and she also successfully owned and operated her own boutique for many years. She embraced every opportunity to serve those around her with generosity and grace.

Her Christian faith was the foundation of her life. As a devoted Pentecostal, Deborah faithfully attended various Assembly of God churches throughout the years. She ministered to others through her gift of hospitality, often expressing God's love by preparing meals and serving her church family. She found great joy in cooking, reading, and studying God's Word, and her steadfast faith was an inspiration to all who knew her.

Deborah's greatest joy was her family. She leaves behind her loving daughter, Carissa Ann Van Evera-Butler; her cherished grandson, Jared Brandon Butler; her cherished granddaughter, Caeli Ann Blanton; her brother, Timothy Haught; her sister-in-law, Judith Van Evera-Lendhardt; her brother-in-law, Stephen Dorse III; and her faithful puppy, Noah, whose companionship brought her great comfort.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Warren Leroy Van Evera; her parents, Vernon Haught and Ruth Cottrill Haught; her sister, Wendy Haught; her brother, Vernon Haught Jr.; and her brother-in-law, Timothy James Van Evera.

Deborah will be remembered for her unwavering faith, compassionate heart, generous hospitality, delicious home-cooked meals, and the unconditional love she gave to her family and friends. Her gentle spirit, servant's heart, and enduring trust in the Lord leave a legacy that will continue to bless all who were privileged to know and love her.

Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing she is at peace in the presence of her Savior, reunited with those who have gone before her. Her memory will forever be treasured and carried in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 24, 2026, at Beach Assembly of God, 20 Bliss Rd. NW Ocean Isle Beach, NC 28469. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will immediately follow at Brunswick Memorial Gardens, 5229 Ocean Hwy W Shallotte, NC 28470.
