Diane Fischer Omvig, 68, of Little River, South Carolina, passed away on April 16, 2026, after several years with Alzheimer’s disease.
Diane was born on November 15, 1957, in Bismarck, North Dakota, to Eileen Ruth Hoffman Fischer and Thomas Joseph Fischer. She moved with her family to Billings, Montana, in 1966 and graduated from Billings West High School in 1975.
She married Kean Delbert Christensen in 1977. This brief union was blessed with the arrival of Diane's oldest daughter Sarah. In 1982, Diane married John Jeffrey “Jeff” Omvig. The two met while working at Yellowstone Processing, where Diane, fittingly, was Jeff’s boss. They built a life together grounded in hard work, stability, and a shared commitment to family.
Over the years, Diane and Jeff moved between Montana and Colorado, eventually raising their four children—Sarah, John, Kelsey, and Laura—primarily in Aurora, Colorado. Diane devoted herself to creating a home that was steady, welcoming, and well run. It was well understood that she was the one who kept everything moving—the quiet “COO” of the family—keeping a neat, comfortable home where everyone knew they were taken care of. Friends of her children were always welcome and could count on being invited to stay for dinner.
When her children were young, Diane ran a daycare from her home, caring not just for her own family but for others as well, helping to make ends meet while doing what she did best—taking care of people.
Later in life, Diane and Jeff took on a new challenge together, opening and running Indigo Joe’s, a sports bar in Centennial, Colorado. It was a lively and memorable chapter that brought new friendships, long days, and plenty of stories.
Diane was strong-willed and opinionated, but always warm, and had a way of making people feel comfortable and included. She believed in simple values—showing up, working hard, and taking care of your own—and she passed those on to her children and grandchildren.
Family life with Diane centered on time together. Nights, weekends, and vacations were often spent playing games, telling and retelling favorite stories, and just being in the same room. Her older grandchildren remember sleepovers where bedtime stretched late into the night, watching scary movies or making late runs to McDonald’s—moments that became lasting memories.
She loved animals, especially her Dobermans—Deja, Lexi, and Asha—and always had a soft spot for pets of all kinds. She enjoyed live rock music and concerts, and later in life became a devoted fan of British television. New Orleans held a special place in her heart for its history, food, and music. She also loved time at the beach, which led her and Jeff to retire to Little River, South Carolina, where she was especially happy to be joined nearby by several of her siblings.
Above all else, Diane cherished her family. That was the center of her life—her parents, her siblings, her children, and her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Eileen and Thomas Fischer.
She is survived by her husband, Jeff Omvig of Little River, SC; her siblings, Kathy Papin of Billings, MT, Blaine (Vickie) Fischer of Little River, SC, Doug (Shona) Fischer of Longs, SC, and Todd (Fran) Fischer of Loris, SC; her children, Sarah (Seth) Monahan of Glen Mills, PA, Laura (Adam) Horton of Aurora, CO, Kelsey (Jack) Flores of Golden, CO, and John Omvig of Charleston, SC; and her cherished grandchildren, Trent, Aidan, Carson, Miles, and Hannah.
She will be remembered for the life she built, the home she kept, and the way she made people feel welcome and taken care of.
