Dorothea L. Kelley

Dorothea (Dot) Lasher Kelley, 102, passed away surrounded by family on Friday, March 18, 2016.

Dot was born in Tivoli, NY on May 11, 1913 the first child of William and Gladys Potter Lasher. She was predeceased by her brother Eugene Lasher (2011).

Dot began her nursing career as a 1935 Vassar Brothers Hospital School of Nursing graduate. She worked many years at Vassar Hospital and concluded her nursing career in 1971 from Wappinger Falls Central School District.

In 1938 Dot married Eugene F. Kelley, Sr. (1997). They had two children Cheryl M. Kelley (2012) and Eugene F. Kelley, Jr.

She lived in Poughkeepsie, NY before relocating to North Myrtle Beach, SC in 1998. She remained an active member of the Tidewater Plantation community. She was always an avid gardener and spent her time reading countless books on her porch overlooking her flowers waiting for the next bloom.

Dot is survived by her son Eugene and his wife, Regina Kelley, of North Myrtle Beach. She is also survived by two grandsons: Thomas, wife Crystal, and two great grandchildren, Kyla and Griffin Kelley, of Wilmington, MA; and Brian and Deborah Kelley of Florence, SC.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am, Tuesday, April 19th at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 801 11th Ave N, North Myrtle Beach. A private interment will take place at a later date.

The family is requesting donations be made to St. Stephens Episcopal Church.
