Born in Scranton, PA on February 11, 1935, Dot was the daughter of the late Leo and Jean Stackowitz (Scoville). She was raised in Scranton, PA, Watertown, NY, and East Hartford, CT. Dot graduated from East Hartford High School and shortly thereafter married Don Raymond with whom she made her life and raised their children.
Family was always most important to Dot. She took great pleasure in keeping their home, cooking and baking, and was always looking for new recipes, and planning special celebrations for birthdays and holidays that were very joyful and happy.
She doted on her beloved grandchildren and spoiled them every chance she could. She also greatly enjoyed being with her extended family and socializing with her friends. Her Sunset Hills neighbors were all very dear friends and “family” too.
Dot and Don were members of New Covenant United Methodist Church and Dot worked there as the church secretary for over 25 years. She loved working there and they made many lifelong friends and had a lot of wonderful memories of special times.
Dot loved to travel with her husband. They enjoyed traveling across the country and to Europe, but her favorite places to go to were in New England. She really loved the ocean and the beach, especially Hampton Beach in New Hampshire and Pemaquid Point Lighthouse in Maine.
Dot’s other passions were the many Golden Retrievers she and Don had over the years, Sandy, Mandy, Casey, and Anny.
Dot is survived by her beloved daughter, Carol Goyer and husband Glenn, her sister Constance Coxhead, her brother Gary Scoville and wife Fern, three treasured grandchildren, Sarah Merk, Kevin Merk and wife Bernadette, Danny Raymond, and numerous nieces and nephews as well as many dear friends. She was predeceased by two sons, Thomas C. Raymond and Christopher D. Raymond, and a brother Richard Stackowitz.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Jennifer and the team at Amedysis for their kind support and loving care of mom for the past three years. They would also like to give special thanks to the staff at The Legacy for their compassionate care.
A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 11 am, at New Covenant United Methodist Church, 16 School St, East Hartford, CT 06108.
