
Douglas James DeRosa, of North Myrtle Beach, was born March 3, 1942 in Everett, Massachusetts to the late Wil and Mary DeRosa. He peacefully passed away on October 17th, after a long and courageous battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.
Doug was a star athlete and in 1960 he was named to the High School All American Team. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati where he was named one of the top 100 all-time football players in UC history.
Doug was an owner and partner at Williams Gerard Productions, one of the leading event production companies in the country until his retirement. He was an avid golfer and a connoisseur of fine cigars and Chardonnay.
He was a devoted husband to Mary Alice DeRosa, beloved father to Jennifer Weydert (Stephen) and Stephanie Nicolaides (Ted), and loving step-father to Heather Pope (Justin), Holly Lewis (Perry), and Heidi Byars.
He is remembered with love by his grandchildren: Annabelle Weydert, Ellie and JT Nicolaides, Allissa and Ashton Pope, and Bennett Lewis; his siblings Carol Viola, Billy DeRosa, Bobby DeRosa (Anna), and Cindy Hollahan (Greg), his former spouse Barbara DeRosa, nieces, nephews, Goddaughter, Candice Ouazzi, many dear friends, as well as his dog Julius.
He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Bob Viola.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in his memory to Cure PSP (psp.org) or Lower Cape Fear Hospice Mercy Care (mercyhospice.org).
