I feel compelled to add my memories of Eileen in tribute to a delightful and extraordinary woman and a special friend. I was born in Thurles, lived as a boy in Mathew Avenue, but came to know Eileen only many years later, when she contacted me through the old Thurles Forum. By then was living in the U.S. and happened to be in Blowing Rock NC at the time. Eileen invited me to her home, and I stopped off overnight and met her in person along with her partner Carl. I have the fondest memories of that stay: a cordial evening of drinks in Carl's company, a terrific dinner at one of Eileen's favorite restaurants (she wouldn't hear of me even contributing my share towards the bill), and the rare treat of an abundant "full Irish" breakfast the next day before I got on the road again. We stayed in touch and shared news by e-mail, cards and phone calls through the years, and how I loved to her voice on the line. She made me the present of an electric tea kettle on that visit, and I remember fondly her warmth and generosity whenever I make myself a "cuppa," as I do almost daily and am about to do now. Rest in peace, dear friend, and I send my heartfelt sympathy and condolences to Carl and all her family.

Hi, as you can see my name is John o Dwyer and I'm from Innisfallen Ave thurles
and while I didn't know Eileen personally I felt I did from her likes and comments on all things Thurles. As I'm 66 Eileen was probably gone from the
Avenue around the time I was born. I knew her father and mother well along with Teddy.Alan and Raymond(?). May I offer my deepest sympathies to her
partner, children and particularly her brother Alan.

When we bought our vacation home in Calabash , we met Eileen and Carl. They have been great neighbors and friends for the past 12 years. Eileen was always thoughtful and kind to Katherine, me and our children. She wanted everyone to have a great time at the beach. I am glad to have known this wonderful soul. We will miss her.

I have great memories of my friendship with Eileen, my second cousin. She and my mother were very fond of each other and when my mother passed away Eileen and I kept up contact through email, phone and Facebook. My daughter has always been very fond of Eileen also.
We clearly remember her last time visiting Thurles, her hometown where she said her heart was, as well as with her beloved family in America etc and her partner Carl and his children.
Eileen was a very special person, warm, loving, generous, loyal and she seemed to live life to the full. She is an example to us all of a life well spent. I will always love, admire and respect her. To her family, my thoughts are with you as are those of her family in Ireland who hold her dear.

I first met Eileen on The Thurles Forum and over time we became great friends. We eventually contacted each other by phone and my Wife looked forward to talking to Eileen as much as I did. My adult children even spoke to Eileen and they generally run a mile from having a phone conversation with anyone other than their friends. Our lives are so much better for having known Eileen. I hope all of Eileen's family find comfort in the knowledge that Eileen enriched the lives of those who came into her life. Ar Chris Dé go raibh a hanam Liam and Patricia and Family.
