Faye Baity

Faye H. Baity, 76, of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, passed away on August 18, 2026. Born December 14, 1949, she was the beloved wife of Virgil Dale Baity, her husband of 57 years, and mother of Lauren Nicole Baity.

Faye had a way of lighting up any room she walked into. She was a pistol, stubborn, opinionated, and usually got her way, but she loved the people in her life with her whole heart, fiercely and without condition, and was always there when they needed her.

Faye was the daughter of the late James Lloyd Harrison and Dorothy Louise Leonard Harrison, and the sister of the late Andy Marcus Harrison. She was preceded in death by her great-nephew, Craig Anthony Gurganious.

Many in the Thomasville, North Carolina area knew Faye as the beloved substitute teacher at Ledford Senior High School from 1999 to 2011. She earned a certificate in accounting and bookkeeping from Ashmore Business College in Thomasville in 1969, and took great pride in her work in accounting, handling payroll for several local businesses over the years. She was deeply creative and loved working with her hands, pouring herself into crafts of all kinds, including the pot people many will remember from the late 1990s and early 2000s. She also gave generously of her time to her church.

Faye met Dale 60 years ago, and they built a life together in Germany, Okinawa, New Mexico, and Idaho during Dale’s career in the Air Force, before returning home in 1980. They spent nearly four decades in the Thomasville and High Point area of North Carolina before making their final move to North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, in 2019.

Faye was adventurous, stylish, and unapologetically herself, right down to her wonderfully eccentric wardrobe. She loved Scottish terriers, having had four of them over the course of her life: Mac, Nic, Woody, and her beloved Finn, and if something could have a Scottish terrier on it, she probably owned it, wanted it, or made it. She loved the beach, the pool, traveling, fast cars, and the music of Fleetwood Mac and the Eagles.

Faye is survived by her husband, Virgil Dale Baity; her daughter, Lauren Nicole Baity; her niece, Terri Harrison Cranford, and nephew, Marcus Harrison; and great-nephews David Wright, Allen Lunsford, and Evan Harrison, and great-niece Brinley Harrison. She also leaves behind her beloved Scottish terrier, Finn.

A celebration of life will be held at Lauren Baity's home on Saturday, August 29th from 2-5 pm. 108 Norwood Hills Dr. Winston Salem, NC 27107.

The family will hold two Celebrations of Life in her honor, one in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina at their community clubhouse on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 2-4pm, and one in Thomasville, North Carolina on Saturday August 29th from 2-5pm with location details shared at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes contributions toward the Celebration of Life expenses, or memorial gifts in Faye’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Alzheimer’s Association, or the American Diabetes Association.
