Jack Mohr was born in Toledo, Ohio to Dr. Edmund Christopher and Gertrude Mohr on April 29, 1929. He went to high school at Campion Jesuit High School in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. He graduated from Georgetown University School of Dentistry, Washington, DC in 1955. He opened a private dental practice in Chesterland, Ohio. He married Mary Isabel Herlihy on June 21, 1952 in Boston, Massachusetts, and they raised five children in Chesterland. He later joined the Veterans Administration Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio, and Marion, Indiana as Chief of Staff in Dentistry. He also enjoyed his role as a Clinical Instructor at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.
Jack married Margaret Garrett Burns of Marion, Indiana in 1983. Together in retirement they enjoyed many years of travel in their RV and small airplane. Jack was a licensed recreational pilot and enjoyed developing his navigational skills both in aviation and later in maritime seamanship. He belonged to the Coast Guard Auxiliary for the Flotilla of District 7-12/02. He was a Commander and Vice Commander with the Coxswain rating.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Charles Mohr, his wife, Margaret Mohr and his step-son, Kenneth Burns.
Jack is survived by his children and step-children, E. Christopher Mohr (Karen) of Denver, Colorado, Mary Ellen Iversen (Rolf) of Waseca, Minnesota, Carol Lane (Steve) of Decatur, Georgia, Frank John Mohr, Jr. of Denver, Colorado, Charles Mohr (Beverly Schoen) of Mead, Washington, Joyce McIntyre (Wes) of Pasco, Washington, and Jim Burns (Beth) of Rye, Colorado. He is survived by one sister, Mary Elizabeth Mohr of Chagrin Falls, Ohio and eight grandchildren.
Funeral service and interment will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, March 23 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. A visitation luncheon will follow in the church hall.
