Franklyn C. Murphy, Jr., 75, passed away March 3, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Poughkeepsie, NY, he was the son of the late Franklyn C. Murphy, Sr. and Mae A. Staber. He was the husband of the late Darlene Murphy.
Franklyn spent his childhood in Hyde Park, NY and following high school graduation, he proudly enlisted in the US Air Force. His career with IBM began after his Honorable release from Active Duty in 1967. Franklyn eventually retired as an Account Specialist on February 28,1996 after over 30 years as a dedicated employee. Throughout his career, he also spent numerous hours as a volunteer with the Highland Hose Fire Department, Company 1 in Highland, NY.
In 1999, he and Darlene relocated to Horry County making their new home in Longs, SC. They enjoyed over 20 years in the warm salty air of the Atlantic and riding with the BeachHouse for Harley Owners Group, Chapter #2495.
Surviving are his daughter, Tammy Murphy; son, Lance Murphy (wife, Melody); grandchildren, Meghan Vigliotti, Alyssa Murphy, Owen Murphy, and Darren Cook. He is also survived by his sister, Carol Huckell (husband, Ronald).
