Freddie W. Shumaker

Freddie Way Shumaker, age 82, of Little River, South Carolina passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, November 11, 2022. Born in Summerton, South Carolina on August 11, 1940 he was a son of the late A.D. and Tallulah Way Shumaker.

Survivors include his loving wife of 19 years, Beverly Shumaker; brother, Allen Shumaker (Hazel) of Columbia, South Carolina; step-children, Nicholas Dodson (Tabitha) of Gainesville, Georgia, Brandon Dodson (Kaylen) of Charleston, South Carolina; along with his step-grandchildren, Mason and Eliza Dodson also of Charleston, South Carolina. Freddie was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Joan Jones of Clayton, North Carolina.

A member of Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church, Freddie relocated to Little River in April of 2003 after meeting his soon to be wife, Beverly. Freddie loved the beach, gardening and fishing. In his younger years, he also enjoyed hunting. He was a true outdoorsman, avid South Carolina Gamecocks fan, proud Mason and a Shriner.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Lee Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children (2900 Rocky Point Drive Tampa, FL 33607 US).
