I don't know what to say but to lisa and her family,  I can't say anything,  but I'll always be here for you lisa in sorry for your loss.

I was Ross’s grandson, he was my papa.  We shared many laughs and good memories, he taught me so much about life and how to live it.  He was so supportive to all of my family throughout all of my life.  You didn’t even have to tell him what you wanted if you gave him a idea he would’ve been determined to get it for you.  That was just the man he was.  

There was one summer I spent with my grandparents, but my grandma (Grammie) left to pick up my cousin.  I remember thinking what are me and papa even  going to do when she’s gone.  I remember feeling like it was going to be boring until she got back. But it was just the opposite, he came in my room one morning ordering me to pack my stuff. I was very confused of what we were doing, honestly I thought he was tired of me and taking me back home. We got on the road and drove to a hotel in Atlanta.  Still puzzled of what we are doing in Atlanta he took me to a Wendy’s with him wearing a baseball cap. After we were done eating we walked for what seemed like miles. We eventually ended up at the Atlanta Braves stadium were he handed me a ticket.  The next day he took me to the world famous coke a cola museum where I always wanted to go to. We ate lunch at a iconic restaurant in Atlanta called Varsity. Papa could plan a trip all the good trips I’ve been on were with you Papa!

Thank you for always being there for us all! I hope when I have grandkids I’ll be just as great as you were, love you papa!

I was very sad to hear, today, of losing Ross.  We grew up within walking distance of each other and were close friends through high school.  A great guy with great humor. I remember when we packed the high school bell with paper, delaying the start of the 1st day of school that year by a little time and lots of laughs. 
Ross looked me up many years later and my wife and I visited, catching up and also meeting Diana, the love of his life.   Ross, like his Dad, treasured his community, his neighbors and leaves a wonderful legacy of love for us all.  “Ross, ya done good!”

So sorry to just learn about Ross's death.  I grew up with him in Green Sea and his dad started me playing golf and I still have never learned the game.

My 5 siblings and I are sadden to learn of Ross’ passing.  We feel very fortunate to have had 6 years of fun learning with Ross at Green sea Jr & High School. 

Please find comfort and peace in knowing that he was a great influence on many students at GSHS.  Wonderful memories 
of Ross and his warm smile, his kindness,
and his friendship will always live in our conversations and our hearts. Ross will truly be missed by all who knew him. 

May God shower all of his family with his love, mercy and grace during this difficult time.

A great neighbor and friend who will be sadly missed but long remembered. Condolences to his family.

I am so sad to hear the of the passing of Ross.  A dear classmate of mine at Green Sea High School.  We shared a lot of laughs and good times .  I thought a lot of Ross even though he was a proud Gamecock and I was a proud Georgia Bulldog.  I will always treasure the times we had together.  He was a true Southern Gentlemen and he will be sorely missed.  It is with a heavy heart to know he is no longer with us.   Dale Grainger

The news of Ross’ passing is weighing heavily on the hearts of all my family.  In all my years at Green Sea High School I counted him among one of my closest friends. My children became acquainted with him when he moved to Whiteville, NC, when we were living there.  We all have continued to celebrate his friendship as we’ve  encountered him here at North Myrtle Beach.  

Ross will be remembered kindly for many things , not the least of them being his friendly smile and his relentless  interest in old friends and all things pertaining to Green Sea . 

My husband and children join me in extending our deepest sympathy to Ross’ entire family. Our prayers will follow each of you as you mourn the loss of someone so special as Ross.

As a fellow classmate, maybe a couple years older, at Green Sea High School, I will always remember his involvement in the Horry County community at festivals, estate sales and auctions, and any other place to acquire items related to the history of the county and South Carolina.  He always had time to share activities that were happening in his life and updates on shared friends.  He was always the first to know.  He was a great friend to have and will be missed always.

How very sad it is to hear of Ross’ passing.  He was an important part of life at Green Sea High School in the early sixties and  much later class reunions were way more fun because he was there.

May God bless and comfort the Rankin family during this time of great loss.

Oh what fun times we had in the North Carolina  mountains!  As the old saying goes . . . "The mountains are calling and I must go!"  Thank you Ross for the wonderful memories, and thank you Dianna for being our friend and being so hospitable to us always.  We really had good laughs together. We sure will miss you our friend!  We pay tribute to a wonderful man who was always so much fun to be around. His spirit and his light will shine on through his children and grandkids.  Ross, rest in peace. God is taking care of your legacy.

Ross was such a great neighbor.He made sure we got a great cleaning lady.Dianna is such a sweetheart ,l know this is a sad time.So very sorry.
