Gary Wayne Johnston

Gary Wayne Johnston, 62, of North Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away peacefully at his home on June 25th, 2025.

Born on November 2nd, 1962, at Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana, to Richard and Helen Johnston, Gary's early years were spent in Virginia Beach, VA. He then built his family life in Lumberton, NC, before realizing his dream of retiring to his cherished North Myrtle Beach, SC. Gary was celebrated for his kind, loving, funny, and honest nature. He found great joy in life, particularly through peaceful walks on the beach, spirited conversations over sports, and most of all, precious moments spent with his beloved family.

Gary is survived by his devoted spouse of 14 years, Carolyn Fae Johnston. He was a loving father to Alex Johnston (Katie), Summer Ashley (Patrick), Jessica Jackson (Chris), Kristy Jackson (Chris), and a cherished grandfather to Nolan Johnston, Everleigh, Madisyn, Waylyn Ashley, Ryleigh Jackson, and Mikkah Rogers. He also leaves behind his brother, Rick Johnston (Melissa), and sister, Marie Sweatt (Tim). Gary was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Johnston, his grandson, Brady Johnston, and his stepmother, Karen Johnston.

Gary's profound kindness and infectious humor touched countless lives, leaving an enduring mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will undoubtedly live on in the hearts of his family and friends. May he rest in eternal peace.
