Gary Ockunzzi

Gary M. Ockunzzi, 76, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024. Born in Aurora, OH, he was ath son of the late Phillip and Kathryn Ockunzzi. Gary was the beloved husband of Patti; loving father of Allison Johnson (Marc) and Amanda Danko (John), brother of Jim O'Kunze (Janet), and the late Marybeth Ockunzzi; dear grandfather of Dylan and Cameron Danko.

Having grown up in Aurora, Ohio Gary was a 1966 graduate of Aurora High School. While attending high school, Gary was part of the football team and wrestling team. He loved living in Aurora and would often share fond memories of this time in his life, including when he served as city councilman. After college, Gary went on to serve in the US Navy in North and South Korea from 1968-1974.

Gary will be remembered for his love for travel, animals, sense of humor, and friendly demeanor. Gary loved his friends and family dearly and will be deeply missed.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Florence National Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will also be held in Cleveland, OH at a later date.
