
Mr. George Holmes Crocker died on Friday, September 8, 2017. Mr. Crocker had been married to Margaret Snow Crocker for 67 years and was a resident of Summit Place in Little River, SC. Born on August 18, 1927 in Beaufort, SC, Mr. Crocker was the son of G. H. Crocker and Lila McTeer Crocker and grew up in Frogmore and Beaufort, SC. He had one sister, the late Julie Schurmeier of Charleston, SC, married to Robert Schurmeier. He had one sister of his heart, Alice Batson of Cary, NC, widow of the late Kelly Batson.
A graduate of Beaufort High School, Mr. Crocker was a naval veteran of WW II. He attended Clemson University and was a lifelong fan of the school. He was a construction superintendent, working for Street Construction in Charlotte, NC for over 50 years. Mr. Crocker was a firsthand participant in the building boom of the new south following WW II, living in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and North Carolina for his career. Charlotte, NC was their primary home.
Mr. Crocker had one son, George H Crocker, Jr (Jay) of Longs, SC, who is married to Linda King Crocker, and one daughter, Jan Crocker Banner of Spartanburg, SC, who was married to the late Jack Martin Banner. He had two grandchildren; Cori Crocker Lee of Oak Hill, VA married to Tom Lee, and Matthew Gray Banner of Mayfield Heights, OH, married to Laura Banner. His great-grandchildren are Alex and Aaron Lee, and Jocelyn Johnson. His grandchildren of the heart are the Batson, Berman, and Schurmeier children and grandchildren.
